Long ago, King Varian Wrynn had just become king. His father had past away, and his mother was vitally ill. He had just married is wife, Lira, who would stand by his side as Queen. But, even with the title of king and a beautiful wife to call his queen, King Varian still was unhappy. He found life to be full of work, meetings, and social gatherings of pure nothingness. King Varian was always trying to maintain a faithful and happy attitude toward his house, and toward his peoples.
On one occasion, no one knows exactly what happened. King Varian was invited to a gathering hosted by a Druid in Moonglade. He left his wife behind, as it was sch a journey from Stomwind to Moonglade. This gathering was to honor his 5th anneversary as King. Varian was greatful to everyone who came to the gathering, and as he stood up on the hill to give his speech, his eyes fell on the daughter of his uncle, Iysa. She stood next to a lamp, and the light shined in her brown hair. He staired, and for a moment, forgot where he was. He colected himself before any one noticed, and gave is speech that he knew would fall on deaf ears.
Later that night, as everyone was going home, King Wrynn cought sight of her again, dancing with a druid. He saw, and couldn't stop seeing. After he went home the next day, all he could think about was Iysa, the way she laughed, her hair, the color of her cheeks. Queen Lira knew something was wrong with her husband, but didn't say anything, thinking it was too much wine.
Many days past, and King Varian couldn't keep himself on his duties. That very night, 12 days after the 5th anneversary of his kingship, he betrayed his queen, and his morals, and went to Iysa. Of course, Lira knew, but she never said anything. She had alwys suspected this, but not for some whiles to come. The next day Queen Lira left King Varian, and their 1 year old son, and went back to her house, shamed that she had neve confrontd Varian, angry with herself, and dispairing for her child.
3 days after Queen Lira left, the king fell into a craze. He thought there were assasins out of every corner, and never left Lady Iysa or his son alone. He felt alone, and took out his loneliness on Iysa.
Eventually, Lady Iysa became Varians consort, emotionally and physically. King Varian didn't take another wife, and felt secure that his relationship with Iysa was strong. He began talkings of marrage, of love, of contentment. Lady Iysa couldn't think of anything better then having the love of the king.
Of course, King Varian never married Lay Iysa, and with this she fell into dispair. She talked, and raved, and screamed about his fallings, and his lovelessness. She thought he had not poured out his heart on a silver platter because he would not marry her. She flew into rages, and sent several servants to the grave. He was confronted with her true colors, and sent her back to her father in disgrace.
One year later, King Varian found out that Lady Iysa had joined the Scarlet Crusade. In her rage, she had acted irrationally, and become infused with dark powers. He invited her back to Stormwind, but she wasn't the same. He could not concieve what he had done. He, once again, made her leave, only this time, left himself, and went off to war with the Horde.
For 3 years he was away, and for 3 years Lady Iysa Stormwind has changed and become distorted in her ways. She is no longer the recognizable noble from the gathering, or the wonderful companion. She is a monster, a hardhearted, cruel, destructive monster, bent only on the downfall of stormwind and of King Varian Wrynn, her only love, and the center of her hatred.
